About Us
Fieldstone Law & Policy is a public interest firm rooted in the idea that justice and good governance are inseparable. A public interest firm serves not just individual clients, but the public good. Our work extends beyond private representation to include issues that shape community well-being—equity in the courts, responsible local governance, and sustainable development.
When systems don’t work as intended, the consequences are felt most acutely by those with the least power to respond. Our work combines courtroom advocacy with policy development to strengthen frameworks that support individuals, communities, and local institutions.
Who We Serve
Access to justice should never depend on wealth or circumstance. We provide defense and counsel for people who often find themselves at the most vulnerable intersections of state power—when liberty, family, and livelihood are on the line. Protecting individual rights in those moments is not only an act of service to the client; it is a safeguard for the principles that uphold an ordered and free society.
This work informs our broader mission. Standing beside clients in these high-stakes settings gives us practical insight into how laws and policies function in real life—where they serve justice well, and where they fall short. That perspective strengthens the policy work we do for the institutions that shape Maine’s communities.
